Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the Indian economy is thriving when major economies like the United States, China, and the UK are struggling and facing downgrades in the wake of the global slowdown.
She highlighted India’s growth under the BJP-led NDA government over the past nine years, saying that the same Morgan Stanley which had listed the nation as a fragile economy in 2013 has upgraded it today.
While participating in the no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said, “India is in a rare position of being optimistic and positive for its future growth.”
“Our real GDP growth was at 7.2 per cent in 2022-23 and it is projected to grow at 6.5 per cent in 2023-24,” Sitharaman said, adding that India is expected to be the fastest-growing economy in the ongoing financial year.
