South Korea’s unification ministry disclosed reasons for North Korea’s exit from Africa today.
The ministry noted that North Korea’s recent closure of its diplomatic offices in Angola and Uganda was an indication that the isolated government is finding it difficult to earn money abroad due to international sanctions.
Since the 1970s, Angola and Uganda have established amicable relations with North Korea, which have included military collaboration and the provision of infrequent foreign exchange earnings from projects including the construction of statues.
