Five-fold Increase in India’s Farmers Budget Under Modi’s Government: Amit Shah

Under the aegis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the budget for Indian farmers has seen a more than five-fold increase, revealed Union home and cooperation minister, Amit Shah. This revelation came to light during Shah’s address at the inaugural ceremony of the country’s first liquid nano di-ammonia phosphate (DAP) plant, an initiative of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).

Shah delineated that the budget allocated for farmers scaled from INR 22,000 crore in 2013-14 to an impressive INR 1,22,000 crore for 2023-24. He also underscored that cereal production had almost doubled during this period, from 323 million tonnes to a whopping 665 million tonnes. These figures serve as a testament to the Modi government’s commitment towards bolstering the agricultural sector, a lifeline for millions of Indian households.
